Educational Psychologists are often the first person consulted when a child isn’t making progress or parents or school have concerns. Part of educational psychology training is to be very clear in knowing what areas of need we can help clarify what is happening and make recommendations that will help a child or young person progress and conversely to know when other professional input is needed.
As an Educational Psychologist I can identify the need and then help refer your child to:
- Speech and language therapists
- Occupational Therapists
- CAMHS (Child and Adult Mental Health Services)
- Child Development Clinic
- Social Communication Clinic
- Private Counselling
- Child protection
As appropriate - Part of a professional approach is to work together with other professionals so that you do not receive conflicting advice.
